Unlike most other camps, you have most of your weekends off (exceptions are the first ones for staff training, and one or two weekends if you work with a two-week camp session) from 6PM on Friday to around 1PM on Sunday.

On the weekends you are off, you are encouraged to rest. You are welcome to stay at camp if you like. You can also go home if you live close by, go home with other staff who live close by, or go on your own sightseeing trips. Camp provides meals on the weekends at no cost for those staff who stay at camp.

Sandy Hill sponsors day-trips for our staff every other weekend to help you take advantage of our proximity to major area attractions. The staff trips are optional and are only scheduled on weekends that are not part of a two-week session so that all interested staff can participate. Camp provides the transportation, breakfast, and a bag lunch at no charge.

We typically take trips to the following places over the course of the summer:

New York City

Washington DC

Professional baseball game in Philadelphia or Baltimore

Rehoboth Beach - ocean beach and outlet shopping

The trips are a great opportunity to tour interesting sites and spend time building friendships with fellow staff.
